Our itch soothe conditioning shampoo is made using a strong decoction of calendula, chamomile and chickweed as these herbs are known for their skin soothing, anti-inflammatory and itch-relieving properties. We add both mango butter and shea butter to condition the skin and coat. Vegetable glycerin adds additional shine. The foaming agents used in our shampoo are derived from glucose and coconut and added MSM (great for the skin and coat when fed and applied topically!) further enhances this product. The pH is at 7, which is compatible with a horse's skin. Finally, the shampoo is fragranced with lemongrass essential oil as it compliments the subtle fragrances of the herbs.
We also produce a similar shampoo for dogs, but the pH is below 7 as a dog has a naturally more acidic skin than a horse. We adjust the pH using ascorbic acid (vitamin C!).
